Do your best, prepare for the worst-then trust God to bring victory. -Proverbs 21:31 MSG
When I found this verse, it just made me giggle. That’s because it just seems so hilariously realistic and simple (not something you often consider with the Bible). “Do your best, prepare for the worst.” Sort of counter-encouraging? But a very realistic message. I always believe that God is a realistic God. He knows the balance between practicality and extravagance. My favorite part, though, is the end: “then trust in God to bring victory.” When the Bible gives you step-by-step kind of instructions, you almost feel relieved. Do this, do that, then do this. I don’t know about you, but I like this simple yet profound steps to take. When it all comes down to it, having a relationship with God and doing his work is a pretty simple experience. There’s no need to overthink it or try to get philosophical. That’s where being like a child comes in. We just simply follow.
