A Poem A Day #313

My Shadow started to Dance

I walked by a brick wall
On a cloudy day.
Naturally, there was nothing
Special about it.
But then the sun came out
And I looked to my right.
I saw my shadow dancing.
It’s impossible;
I was standing still.
There was no wind in my step,
There was no smile on my face.
But my shadow grew tired of that.
It was desperate for a leap,
For light, for love.
So, when the sun came out,
It took its place
In the spotlight.
My shadow started to dance.
“I’m not feeling it inside,”
I thought.
“Doesn’t matter,” my shadow said.
“It’s what you wanted inside.”
