A Poem A Day #42

Reach

Dream…
Hope…
Listen…
Wait…
It is coming…
It is near…
It is closer…
It is right here…
Just reach.
You will find…
What you seek…
Just reach.
It is there…
In front of you…
Climb…
You’re closer…
There it is…
Reach.
Slowly…
It’s coming…
Calmly…
Don’t be afraid…
It is near now…
Reach.
There…
You have it…
Trust…
Know it…
It will lead you…
Just reach.

I imagine this for anyone when they’re striving towards a dream. It’s exhausting. The extensive use of the ellipsis slows down the pace of the poem and almost makes one take a breath after each line, as if they were saying it at the brink of death. Then the solid period after each “Reach” isolates the word, making it stand out. This is the whole message. The struggle is exhausting, but just keep reaching and you’ll get it.
